5 Free Minutes for International Calls from Egypt

In the context of the rapidly accelerating developments taking place in the region, Egypt's National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) issued urgent directives to mobile companies operating in the local market, requiring them to grant subscribers free international minutes to call a number of Arab countries.

According to an official statement from the Authority, each subscriber will be granted five free international minutes that can be used to communicate with: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan.

The Authority clarified that this step comes with the aim of enabling citizens to check on their relatives living abroad and to strengthen continuous communication with them, especially given the sensitive circumstances currently facing some countries in the region as a result of ongoing events.

Several Gulf capitals have been experiencing successive security developments since Saturday, following the escalation of regional tensions, with some cities having been subjected to missile and drone attacks, resulting in casualties according to official reports.

The NTRA confirmed that it will continue to closely monitor regional developments, while taking the necessary regulatory measures in coordination with telecommunications companies, to ensure the support of citizens and to facilitate their access to effective and secure communication services during this period.
