iOS 27.3 Beta: Redesigned Health App Returns, Safari Gets Vertical Tabs

Eight days after iOS 27.2 landed on iPhones, Apple seeded the first iOS 27.3 beta to developers on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, alongside iPadOS 27.3. The headline isn't the version number. It's the return of a feature Apple pulled at the last minute: the redesigned Health app, which appeared during iOS 27.2 testing and then quietly disappeared before launch.
According to MacRumors, the beta carries build number 24C5037i, and Apple expects a public release in December after several more rounds of testing. Below is what is actually new, what matters if you live in the Arab world, and whether the beta belongs on the phone you rely on every day.
The new Health app is the biggest change in iOS 27.3
The old Health app worked like a filing cabinet. It stored your steps, heart rate and sleep, and left the interpretation to you. The redesign tries to do that reading on your behalf. A new Insights tab surfaces recent data such as Activity rings, heart rate, sleep score and vitals, and uses Apple Intelligence to offer personal guidance based on it.
The Longevity tab pulls heart health, sleep, mental wellbeing, movement, metabolic health, hearing and nutrition into one place. Its centerpiece is a new figure called Health Age, which estimates how your metrics compare with your actual age. It draws on resting heart rate, VO2 max, heart rate variability, sleep and, if you add them, blood-work results.
Apple has also added heart rate variability (HRV) as a metric, with an overall reading and a recovery reading, and the Vitals section now splits overnight and daytime views. Appleosophy reports that the app supports at-home movement assessments using the iPhone camera together with an Apple Watch.
Two caveats are worth knowing. MacRumors says the redesign requires an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence, so older models may not get it, and Health Age depends on an Apple Watch. As with any health score generated by software, treat it as a trend to watch, not a diagnosis. A worrying number is a reason to book a doctor's appointment, not to keep refreshing a dashboard.
Safari borrows a trick from desktop browsers
Heavy tab users will notice this quickly. iOS 27.3 adds vertical tabs to Safari, moving the tab bar to the left side of the screen. Tabs appear as icons by default, and you can widen the bar to see page titles. On iPhone, 9to5Mac says the option lives in Settings, then Apps, then Safari.
The second addition is smarter than it sounds: Adaptive Dark Mode. If you use Dark Mode and open a site with a bright white background and no dark theme of its own, Safari offers a "Try" option that renders the page in darker colors. It's a small touch, but it makes late-night reading far easier on the eyes.
StandBy upgrades reach iPhone 11 and later
The StandBy features that debuted on iPhone Duo are coming to every compatible model, starting with iPhone 11, according to MacRumors. They include customizable analog and digital clock faces, an updated Photos face with Shared Albums support, new Calendar and Weather faces, and the ability to swipe between several versions of each face. If your phone spends the night on a charger next to your bed, this is an update you will actually use.
Apple Intelligence enters China through Alibaba's Qwen
The bigger industry story concerns China. Apple has confirmed that its first Apple Intelligence features will launch there with iOS 27.3 in December, with developer testing starting on November 4, The Next Web reports. Alibaba's Qwen model appears inside Siri, Writing Tools and Visual Intelligence, where users can pick "Ask Qwen" to learn about objects and places. Access works through a Qwen account or Sign in with Apple.
The China rollout does not include the new Siri AI that Apple announced at WWDC 2026. Reports also say Private Cloud Compute, the system Apple uses to protect privacy during cloud processing, does not apply in China. That point has drawn questions from some Western researchers, while both companies say they remain committed to privacy.
iPadOS 27.3 brings Siri mode to the Camera app
On iPad, Siri mode in the Camera app expands to iPad Pro and iPad Air models with an M1 chip or newer, plus iPad mini models with A17 Pro or A20 Pro, MacRumors reports. It gives faster access to Visual Intelligence: take a photo, circle an object with Apple Pencil, and get information about it. Visual Intelligence was already on iPad; what's new is the easier way in.
When will iOS 27.3 reach everyone, and what about iOS 27.2.1?
Apple hasn't named a day, but reports consistently point to December, after more betas. In the meantime, MacRumors says a smaller iOS 27.2.1 update is on the way, with no confirmed details about its contents yet. iOS 27.2 itself arrived on October 26 and fixed more than 160 security vulnerabilities, none of them actively exploited according to MacRumors. If you haven't installed it, do that before thinking about any beta.
Should you install the beta? Our honest take
If your iPhone is the only phone you have for work, banking and WhatsApp, the answer is usually to wait. Early betas tend to bring battery and app bugs, and banking apps in particular can behave unpredictably. If you have a spare device or you're a developer testing your own app, the beta is worth trying.
- Joining: go to Settings, General, Software Update, then Beta Updates, and choose the developer beta tied to your Apple Account.
- Before installing: make a full backup, ideally on a computer, because a backup made on a beta may not restore to an older release.
- Leaving: turn off Beta Updates in the same place, and your phone will move to the public release when it ships. Going back to an older version right away requires restoring the device from a computer.
What iOS 27.3 means for Arabic-speaking users
The published language list for the new Health app covers English, Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish and Vietnamese, and Arabic is not on it, according to Appleosophy. Users in Egypt or the Gulf may see some of these features in English only until Apple adds more languages. Safari's vertical tabs, Adaptive Dark Mode and the StandBy upgrades aren't tied to a language, so they'll work for everyone.
One practical tip if you plan to buy a new iPhone this season: the most interesting iOS 27 features depend on models that support Apple Intelligence. If those features matter to you, check the model before you pay.
